Registered entities outside the enterprise universe

How many entities of each kind are registered, in four categories the enterprise survey does not cover: private entrepreneurs (sole traders and family businesses), financial and banking enterprises, public administration institutions and private administration organisations. 4,928 values, from the TEMPO INT101 family.

The private entrepreneurs series by territory starts in 1993 — the longest run in the whole domain. What it shows: family businesses collapse from 133,610 in 2000 to 18,129 in 2010 (16,874 in 2024), while sole traders rise from 261,258 in 2000 to 272,831 in 2010 and 306,813 in 2024.

⚠️ The four categories are not additive with one another — they are distinct universes, not parts of the same quantity — and they have different breakdowns: activity and territory only for private entrepreneurs, form of ownership only for the financial and banking ones.

⚠️ administratie_privata changes its nomenclature in 2012: five types up to 2011, three of them merged; nine from 2012. Every series carries valabil_de_la and valabil_pana_la.

⚠️ administratie_publica has no total row: the ten types are published without an aggregate.

How it behaves

  • How many entities of each kind are registered, across four categories the enterprise survey does not cover: private entrepreneurs (authorised natural persons and family enterprises), financial and banking enterprises, public administration institutions and private administration organisations. 4,928 values from the TEMPO INT101 family.
  • The territorial series of private entrepreneurs starts in 1993 — the longest run in the whole enterprise domain. What it shows: family enterprises collapse from 133,610 in 2000 to 18,129 in 2010 (16,874 in 2024), while authorised natural persons rise from 261,258 in 2000 to 272,831 in 2010 and 306,813 in 2024. In 2024 most PFAs are in Bucharest (38,308), Cluj (16,057), Bihor (13,385), Iaşi (12,800) and Timiş (11,770).
  • The financiar_bancare category covers exactly the sector EXCLUDED from the enterprise survey: financial intermediation does not enter /financiar/v1/intreprinderi/indicatori, so commercial banks, insurance and reinsurance companies, investment firms and securities firms are counted only here — across both classifications and three ownership forms.
  • ⚠️ The four categories do not add up. They are distinct universes, not parts of one magnitude, and their breakdowns differ: activity and territory exist only for private entrepreneurs, ownership form only for the financial ones, while public and private administration have none.
  • ⚠️ administratie_privata changes its nomenclature in 2012. Up to 2011 the source publishes five types, three of them merged — “Foundations, cultural and sports associations”, “Parties, political formations, coalitions”, “Professional and employers’ unions”; from 2012 it splits them into nine: foundations, cultural associations, sports clubs, parties, professional unions, tenants’ associations, mutual aid funds, commons and other organisations. Each series carries valabil_de_la and valabil_pana_la. The two spellings of professional unions share the same code, because it is the same category renamed and the periods do not overlap.
  • ⚠️ administratie_publica has no total row: the ten types — from ministries and prefectures to education and health units — are published without an aggregate. Anyone wanting the total adds it up themselves, assuming the nomenclature is a partition.

What it is for

  • The effect of the PFA statute reform, measured over thirty years and across counties.
  • How many banks, insurers and investment firms existed each year, by ownership form.
  • The size of the associative sector and how its composition changed after 2012.
  • The number of public institutions by type, as a denominator for other statistics.

meta.fara_date string data is null and this says why. The projection over the INS data is empty. The requested type, subcategory or territory does not appear; the catalogue is in the nomenclature. The combination has no series; note that breakdowns differ from category to category. As for the other series.
meta.fara_date_cod string The short, STABLE word for the reason, for clients that branch on it in code: fara_date is prose and may be rephrased, this is not.
