Short-term industrial indices

The four indicators the state of industry is read from monthly — industrial production, turnover, new orders and labour productivity — since January 2005, all with base year 2021 = 100. Ten TEMPO matrices, 83,415 values.

⚠️ The three production adjustments are THE SAME series, processed differently — not three quantities. bruta is the figure as published, zile_lucratoare removes the calendar effect (moveable feasts, a leap February), zile_si_sezonalitate leaves the trend. The distance between them is large: in January 2026 total industry sits at 82.0 raw and at 94.5 seasonally adjusted — the same month, 12.5 points apart. Picked at random or spliced into one series, they lead to opposite conclusions. By default we return the raw series.

⚠️ comenzi_noi does not cover the whole of industry — only the 19 positions within manufacturing that work to order, with their own aggregates („capital goods industry working to order"). It is not a comparable subset of turnover.

⚠️ The published code list is a flat list mixing four levels: the total, the three NACE sections, the aggregates with their exclusion variants, and the main industrial groupings (MIG). Summed, they count several times over. nivel separates them explicitly; by default the total is returned.

⚠️ These are indices, not quantities. 100 is the average of 2021, not „normal". They are not additive and must not be averaged across activities — the weights of each division in the total are not published here.

Verified: the base year average on the raw series is 100.00. The adjusted series come out slightly above (100.68 and 100.75) — adjustment redistributes between months, so their annual average is not forced to 100.

caen_versiuneoptional string | null Optional: the revision of the caen code — 1, 2 or 3 — when its form is ambiguous (4932 means different things in Rev.2 and Rev.3). Without it, the code is looked up in the series revision first. 123
caenlistoptional text Optional, codes separated by commas: any CAEN code — section (C), division (62), group, class (6201) — from any revision. It is brought to the division or section (B, C, D) the source names, or the B+C sum; what was used is in meta.caen. e.g. 2910,0510
gruparelistoptional text Optional, separated by commas: the source aggregates that are not CAEN codes — the totals, the “excl. div.” aggregates and the MIG groupings (industria_energetica…); the list, with cerere on each, is at /financiar/v1/industrie/indici/nomenclator. Not sent together with caen. e.g. extractiva_si_prelucratoaree.g. extractiva_si_prelucratoare_excl_diviz_…e.g. extractiva_si_prelucratoare_excl_diviz_…

How it behaves

  • The four indicators used to read the monthly state of industry — 83,415 values, January 2005 to 2026, from ten TEMPO matrices: IND104N/O/P, IND101K/L/M, IND102K/L/M and IND105F. All on base year 2021 = 100.
  • ⚠️ The three adjustments of industrial output are the SAME series, processed differently — not three quantities. bruta is the figure as published, season and calendar included; zile_lucratoare removes the calendar effect (moving holidays, leap February); zile_si_sezonalitate leaves the trend. The gap is not cosmetic: in January 2026 total industry sits at 82.0 raw and 94.5 seasonally adjusted — same month, 12.5 points apart. Picked at random or spliced into one series, they lead to opposite conclusions. The raw series is returned by default, because that is what the source publishes unprocessed.
  • ⚠️ comenzi_noi does not cover all of industry — only the 19 manufacturing positions that work to order, with their own aggregates ("capital goods industry working to order"). It is not a comparable subset of turnover and does not relate to it.
  • ⚠️ The published nomenclature is a flat list mixing four levels: the total, the three CAEN sections, the aggregates with their exclusion variants ("mining and manufacturing, excl. divisions 10, 11, 12") and the Main Industrial Groupings (MIG) — capital, consumer, intermediate, energy. Summed, activities are counted several times over. nivel separates them explicitly; the total is returned by default.
  • ⚠️ These are indices, not quantities. 100 is the 2021 average, not "normal". They do not add up and do not average across activities — the weight of each division in the total is not published here.
  • ⚠️ The source spells the same division differently across matrices (hirtiei in one place, hartiei in another; suporturi vs suporti) and publishes the energy section twice, once in capitals — 258 identical values in both. Codes here are normalised so the same activity carries the same slug across indicators; otherwise output and turnover would not be comparable by division.
  • Checked: the base-year average of the raw series is 100.00. The adjusted series come out slightly above (100.68 and 100.75) — adjustment redistributes across months, so their annual mean is not forced to 100.
  • Activity is requested the same way across the platform. caen takes any CAEN code, at any level and from any revision, and the route brings it to what the series publishes — climbing to a parent or translating it through the official INS correspondence; meta.caen states the requested code, the one used and whether it was climbed or converted. grupare is for the source aggregates that are not CAEN codes.

What it is for

  • The monthly state of industry read off the trend series, not the raw one.
  • How much of a monthly fall is season and how much is signal — the gap between the three adjustments.
  • Which division drives turnover up or down, on the domestic versus the external market.
  • New orders as a leading indicator for manufacturers working to order.

meta.nota_niveluri string What each level means and which of them are comparable.
meta.nota_lista string What the list contains and what it does not — its limits.
meta.fara_date data is null and this says why. The projection over INS data is empty. As for the other series.
meta.fara_date_cod The short, STABLE word for the reason, for clients that branch on it in code: fara_date is prose and may be rephrased, this is not.
meta.caen[] object[] How the caen parameter was understood: the requested code, the revision it was read in and the code the route used. For a list of codes, one object per code.
meta.caen[].cerut string The CAEN code sent, normalised (upper case, no dots).
meta.caen[].versiune_cerut string The revision the code sent was read in: the one in caen_versiune, otherwise the first it exists in.
meta.caen[].folosit string The code the series used: the requested one, its first published parent or the source aggregate that contains it (02-03).
meta.caen[].cod string The CAEN code the key used stands for, when the series names its activities differently (agricultura = 01) or the key is an aggregate (62-63).
meta.caen[].nivel string The level of the code used — on company routes, of the requested code: sectiune, subsectiune, diviziune, grupa, clasa or agregat.
meta.caen[].denumire string The name of the code, from the CAEN nomenclature.
meta.caen[].versiune_serie string The CAEN revision the series is published in.
meta.caen[].conversie boolean true when the code was translated from one revision to another through the official INS correspondence.
meta.caen[].urcat boolean true when the series does not publish the requested code and a higher level was used.

Error codes

CodeSlugWhen it occurs
401neautentificatMissing or invalid token.
403feature_indisponibilfinanciar.indici is not in the current plan.
404caen_nepublicatNeither the code nor its parents are published in the series; detalii.disponibile lists the keys. grupare_nepublicata — the grouping is not in the series; the response lists them.
422caen_inexistentThe code in caen exists in no CAEN revision; it is a bad FILTER value, hence 422, not 404. ajustare_inaplicabila / piata_inaplicabila — the requested dimension does not exist for that indicator. raspuns_prea_mare — over 20,000 cells. caen and grupare sent together, caen_versiune without caen, or a code that is not CAEN-shaped.
429cota_depasitaThe plan's monthly quota has been exceeded (see Retry-After).

All errors share the same shape. eroare.cod is stable and is the value you should branch on in code — not the text in mesaj, which may change.
