Query parameters

NameTypeDescriptionAccepted values
prefixoptional string | null Optional. A piece of an ECOICOP code, e.g. CP01. e.g. CP01
cautaoptional string | null Optional. Text searched in the name, at least 2 characters. Names are in English, as published by Eurostat (bread). max 60 car.

How it behaves

  • The nomenclature of consumption categories used by HICP, filterable by code prefix or by text in the name.
  • Every code comes with its classification and version, for the same reason as in the value series: the code alone does not stably identify a category across versions of the classification.
  • The prefix filter is useful for descending the hierarchy: CP01 returns the food category and all its subdivisions.

What it is for

  • Finding a category code before requesting the series.
  • Populating a category selection list.

Response structure

FieldTypeDescription
data.categorii[] object[] Available categories.
meta.categorii integer Available categories.
meta.sursa string The official source the data comes from, with its licence where one is required.
meta.nota string A note on how to read the response — a pitfall, a convention or a limit of the source.
data.categorii[].cod string The ECOICOP code. ⚠️ On its own it does NOT identify a category stably — the same code may mean something else in another version.
data.categorii[].denumire string The Eurostat name, in English (the nomenclature is not translated at source).
data.categorii[].clasificare string The classification the code comes from, usually ecoicop.
data.categorii[].versiune string The classification version. Sent together with the code, here and in the value series.

Error codes

CodeSlugWhen it occurs
401neautentificatToken missing, invalid, expired or revoked.
403feature_indisponibilThe current plan does not include the feature the route depends on.
422validareMalformed prefix or search text too short.
429cota_depasitaThe plan's monthly quota has been exceeded (see Retry-After).

All errors share the same shape. eroare.cod is stable and is the value you should branch on in code — not the text in mesaj, which may change.
