Airport detail

A whole airport: the codes, the position, the elevation, the country and the runways, each with its length and surface.

Query parameters

This route accepts no query parameters.

How it behaves

  • Any of the three codes is accepted. When the same string is IATA for one airport and ICAO for another, IATA wins: it is the code printed on the ticket, so the more likely intent.
  • Runways come sorted by length, longest first, so the first is the main one. Length is given both in feet (as the source publishes it) and in metres.
  • capete are the identifiers of the two runway ends (08 / 26), which encode the heading in tens of degrees.

What it is for

  • Translate an IATA code from a ticket into a name, city and coordinates.
  • Check whether an airport can take a given aircraft type, by looking at runway lengths.
  • Get the exact coordinates, for a map or a distance calculation.

aeroport.piste[].capete array The runway end identifiers.
aeroport.numar_piste integer How many runways the airport has.
sursa.nume string Name of the official source.
sursa.url string Public address of the source.
sursa.licenta string The licence under which the source allows reuse.

Error codes

All errors share the same shape. eroare.cod is stable and is the value you should branch on in code — not the text in mesaj, which may change.
