How it behaves

  • Romania has 24 interconnection points in the feed, with Ukraine, Moldova, Bulgaria, Serbia and Hungary. Many are inactive at any given moment — a flow of 0 MW is a normal state, not missing data.
  • observatii_import and observatii_export state in how many observations the flow went each way. They are more useful than the average on a point that reverses: an average near zero can mean either "inactive" or "swung hard both ways".
  • The series is made of observations at irregular moments: they accumulate when the import runs, not at a fixed interval. The averages here are averages over observations, not over time, and cannot be converted into energy (MWh) without a constant-step series.

What it is for

  • See which borders are importing and which are exporting, aggregated over a period.
  • Compare the intensity of exchanges with each neighbouring country.
  • Identify the points that were inactive in a period.
