How much of a fuel's excise duty belongs to the biological component and how much to the fossil one — a breakdown the pump price does not show.

How it behaves

  • The weekly series has gaps, and they belong to the source. Of the 1,082 weeks published between 2005 and today, 37 intervals skip a week or two: 17 resume in January and 15 in April — the Commission does not publish the bulletin during the Christmas and Easter weeks. These are not failed imports. If you plot a weekly chart, expect the breaks and do not fill them by interpolation: no quotation existed in those weeks.
  • The source publishes the split only for petrol and diesel, and only from 2015. For other products the response is empty — that is not a gap on our side.
  • Rows are "in force from", like the other taxes, but the source republishes them often, so the series has many entries with identical values.
  • Amounts are in national currency per 1000 litres.

  • Analyse how biofuel policy is reflected in a country taxation.
  • Compare the treatment of the bio component across member states, on official data.
